Porto and North of Portugal

Porto is the 2nd largest Portuguese town built along the hillsides overlooking the Douro River - an outstanding urban landscape with a 2.000 year history.

The historic center of Oporto is a Unesco World Heritage site and is of outstanding universal value. The highlight goes to the Cathedral, the Walls, The Clérigos Tower, S. Francisco Church. The several bridges over Douro River also mark the landscape of the Invicta.

We suggest a visit to one the many Wine Cellars of Port Wine to acknowledge more about the history of Port wine production and of course to try this delicious wine, followed by a delicious dinner in order to enjoy not only the fine gastronomy but also the nice view over Porto and its riverbanks.

UNESCO declared in 2001 the Alto Douro Wine Region as a World Heritage Site. Wine has been produced by traditional landholders in the Alto Douro region for some 2,000 years. Especially dazzling are the views which may be admired from Pinhão, a small town surrounded by traditional Quintas (farms) of Port wine production. The railway station decorated with beautiful panels of tiles portraying local scenes is one of the highlights of this village. Régua is the capital of the Alto Douro region which produces the famous Port wine and conquered its commercial and strategic statute when it was chosen to lodge the General Company of the High Douro Wines, in 1756.

Center of Portugal

The center of Portugal is a wide area where you are able to live different kinds of experiences, since it is a place where diversity is constantly present.

In Leiria, Fátima and Tomar area you are able to find a region with an historic, cultural, religious and natural patrimony. Here you can find the Fátima Sanctuary, the Pine forest of Leiria, the Monastery of Batalha, the Monastery of Alcobaça and the Castle of Tomar, known for the Castle of the Templars.

Afterwards you can continue to Coimbra, where you can visit the University of Coimbra, one of the oldest universities of Europe and assist to the famous Fado of Coimbra which is different from the one you can see in Lisbon.

The region of Serra da Estrela é the perfect scenery to spend some days with Nature, where you can view the green valleys and mountains and discover the therapeutic properties of nature spas.

Aveiro is a unique town perched on a peaceful lagoon and historically famed for its salt production. In this city you can go through the canals of the Lagoon in the “moliceiros” boats and taste the famous Ovos Moles of Aveiro. 

Alentejo

One of the widest regions of Portugal, Alentejo is the place where people can go to relax and have unforgettable gastronomic experiences. All over Alentejo you are able to taste the famous cheeses and sausages, the olive oil, the wines and the pastry.

In Alentejo you can also visit Unesco Heritage Sites as well, located in Évora and Elvas. In Évora in the middle of a beautiful landscape of cork trees, olive trees and vineyards you can visit the Roman Temple of Diana, the Cathedral, the Church of S. Francisco and the Bones Chapel. In Elvas, on the other hand, you will find a city surrounded by walls, fortifications and forts as it was considered UNESCO World Heritage as Garrison board of Elvas and its fortifications and you are able to taste the famous Sericaia dessert.

The Alentejo Region covers all the area between Lisbon and Algarve and has an interior part and also a coastal area from Tróia to Sines, where you can enjoy the most wonderful beach landscapes. 

Algarve

The Algarve Region is known for being one of the regions with better weather conditions of Europe. Its geographic location allows the region to have around 3000 hours of sun per year and a low average annual rainfall.

From Sagres to Vila Real de Santo Antonio, Algarve is the best spot for great Vacations for its climate and the different scenery from the rest of Portugal.

Algarve is a place of excellence, a premier Holiday destination due to the beaches, parties, golf courses, casinos, gastronomy, nautical activities, water parks and car racing.

Some of the best and most beautiful beaches of the world are located here!! The Algarve extensive coastline with approximate 200 km has different types of coves, cliffs and caves and wide sandy areas.

Azores

The Azores Archipelago is formed by nine islands of volcanic origin located in the North Atlantic. The islands are separate by three geographical groups: the Eastern Group, comprising Santa Maria and São Miguel, the Central Group, including Terceira, Graciosa, São Jorge, Pico and Faial, and the Western Group, composed by Corvo and Flores

Madeira

The Madeira Archipelago is formed by the Madeira Island, Porto Santo, the Desertas and the Selvagens. The Islands, due to its geographical location, have a surprisingly balmy weather, with moderate humidity and pleasant average temperatures in summer and in winter.

The main places to visit in Madeira Islands are: Funchal - the capital of the archipelago, Caniço - the east coast (Santa Cruz), the west coast (Câmara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava), the north coast (Porto Moniz; São Vicente and Santana) and Porto Santo.

The islands have a fascinating landscape, with its high mountains and deep valleys covered by exotic vegetation and colorful flowers. Add to these attractions the charm of the small villages and the cosmopolitan rhythm of the capital, Madeira, and you have plenty of good reasons to set off and explore every corner of the island.

Thanks to its fertile soil and abundant fish, Madeira's traditional dishes are very healthy. Fish dishes, like scabbard fillet, tuna steak and meat dishes like the traditional brochette and marinated meat, accompanied by the traditional fried corn and tasty “bolo do caco”, are a must for visitors to the island.
